Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Month at PEAC (October 1st - 31st)
PEAC Health & Fitness is going pink for the month of October, with an event filled campaign to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
PEAC’s pink events start with the introduction of a Cybex pink treadmill, where Cybex will donate $.10 for every mile to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and PEAC will make a matching donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The month also includes pink items available for purchase, special group exercise classes, chair massages, and raffles. “In recognition of those who have been affected and to increase awareness, there are name recognition ribbons,” adds Laura Geltch, PEAC Marketing Coordinator, “and in celebration for members who have battled with breast cancer, we have a special gift.”
Another highlight to the events is an art auction featuring a gallery full of beach watercolor paintings by renowned artist, David Biddle. Mr. Biddle was so generous to donate an entire collection of his paintings, with all proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. On Saturday, October 17th, Mr. Biddle shall be on hand from 10am – 11am to meet with potential bid winners of his artwork, during a book signing of his “The Best of Biddle’s Birdcage.” Copies will be available to purchase, with all proceeds also benefiting Susan G. Komen.
“We are excited about our pink month and the generosity we experience from our members and community,” says Michael Briehler, PEAC’s President. “This year we are including a special recognition of those affected by Breast Cancer, and I have to thank David Biddle for his donation of artwork.”
Perpetual Prosperity Pumps Foundation in Africa (June 2008-)
600 pairs of shoes provides; water access, an irrigation system, training, seed, livestock; that allows a family to enjoy a perpetually sustainable harvest.
Since June 2008, PEAC sponsored PPPF Africa (Perpetual Prosperity Pumps Foundation). PEAC is collecting used athletic shoes. We have collected over 600 pairs of shoes to date, enough to provide one family with a complete irrigation system, and we're still collecting!
Through PPPF we are stimulating the economy in Africa, helping families in need, and improving their farming system. For every 300 pairs of sneakers donated, we are saving twenty-five acres of rainforest.
Please donate new or slightly used sneakers (sizes 7 and up) and soccer cleats (all sizes).
