On Sunday, June 14, 2009 nearly 150 area residents came out to PEAC Health & Fitness in Ewing for a 5K race to support the restoration of the Ewing Presbyterian Church. Registration began at 7AM on PEAC’s front lawn with participants, supporters and family members anxiously waited for the signal to run from Mayor Jack Ball as he thanked everyone for supporting this Ewing landmark. “PEAC Health & Fitness has brought us together as a community and continues to serve Ewing faithfully,” said Mayor Ball. Runners took off down Lower Ferry Road, crossed over Upper Ferry Road, right at Carlton Ave., crossing Scotch Road, up to the Sanctuary, then back to PEAC.
“I just wanted to say thanks for putting on such a great race yesterday! I live in Ewing and this is the first time there has been a race that I can recall. I hope there will be more races to follow!” said Patricia Moran, a PEAC member.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the Partners to Restore Ewing Sanctuary, by volunteering, pledging or racing,” said Beth Ellen Jarvie, organizer for the event. Proceeds from this race contributed to the more than $110,000 initially raised through various fundraising towards restoration! |
