Alex Perlin loses 100 pounds training at PEAC!

Lifelong Trenton area resident, Alex Perlin, recently celebrated a life changing accomplishment by losing more than 100 pounds at PEAC Health & Fitness! Alex joined PEAC in 1997 while in middle school, along with his parents. Although Alex frequented the club throughout middle school and high school, visiting on his breaks, during college and law school, he was overweight (and struggled with fitness). Alex is currently a lawyer in the Trenton area.

FEBRUARY 2012: CHANGE THE MESSAGE PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL EATING DISORDERS ASSOCIATION AND PEAC TO FIGHT EATING DISORDERS.
According to the Academy for Eating Disorders, the incidence of eating Disorders has been on the rise in the last 30 to 40 years. Anorexia and bulimia affect 10 million females and one million males in America, while millions more suffer from binge eating disorder. These eating disorders and body image problems cause physical and emotional harm to the sufferer and have devastating effects on families and communities. Each February, the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) and thousands of people across the country conduct outreach efforts to bring critical information and resources to the public.

PEAC to host Hopewell Valley MOMS Club, Kids Fun Run to benefit Safety Town

PEAC will be hosting the MOMS Club of Hopewell Valley’s Kids Fun Run on Sunday, March 11, 1-3pm. The MOMS Club of Hopewell Valley is a local chapter of the International MOMS Club, a non-profit organization. The mission of the MOMS Club is to provide a daytime social outlet for mothers who have chosen to stay at home to raise their children. Hopewell Valley’s MOMS Club is comprised of 45 members, supporting and performing at least one community service project each year. This year, the MOMS Club is working with the Hopewell Valley YMCA to raise funds to introduce “Safety Town”, a one week summer program, offered to rising Hopewell Valley Kindergarteners.

PEAC's Chris Draper competes in 2nd "Ultraman" in Hawaii

Chris Draper, Certified Trainer and Registered Dietician at PEAC Health & Fitness, recently competed in his second Ultraman World Championship, a three-day, 320 mile (515-km) annual endurance race held in Hawaii. The race is divided into three stages over three days. The first is a 6.2-mile (10-km) ocean swim, followed by a 90-mile (145-km) cross-country bike ride. Second is a 171.4-mile (276-km) bike ride, and the last is a 52.4-mile (84-km) double-marathon. Each stage must be completed within 12 hours or less. The swim portion of the first segment must be completed in 5.5 hours or less. Participants who do not reach the finish lines within the time limits are disqualified.

Ann O’Connell Loses 50 at 50! A PEAC Health & Fitness Success Story.

Ann O’Connell recently celebrated more than just her 50th birthday; she had her wish come true by losing more than 50 pounds. Ann, her husband, Mark and their three children moved to Pennington from North Jersey two years ago. As they were new to the area, a neighbor suggested she try PEAC. “I was overweight, unhappy and not feeling like myself. I mentioned to my neighbor that I was interested in finding a local gym—the very next day, my mailbox was filled with information about PEAC,” said Ann. After an impressive tour of the facility, Ann wasted no time in becoming a member of PEAC.

(Ewing, NJ) –PEAC Health and Fitness has announced the addition of a full service indoor cycling studio outfitted with Computrainers and coaching staff this Fall. PEACycling will cater to the cycling and multisport needs of the greater Princeton, Pennington and Ewing area. PEACycling will address every aspect of cycling and triathlon preparation including personalized coaching, weight loss and sports nutrition. We look forward to celebrating the journey along with our clients from start to finish. PEACycling’s Studio is a specialized testing and performance facility for cyclists and multisport athletes of all levels. The goal of the PEACycling program is to “turn riders into cyclists.” PEACycling does so by providing riders with an inclusive array of services, both for greater performance and as a means to test their unique cycling ability. These services include lactic acid threshold tests, Indoor Computrainer classes and Yoga specific to the cyclist. Classes will run 6 days a week. Additionally, private coached sessions are available, both one-on-one and for private groups.

Since June 2008, PEAC has supported the “Perpetual Prosperity Pumps Foundation”, (PPPF Africa), by collecting used athletic shoes. This year, PEAC’s participation has been additionally supported by the community.
Recently, PEAC made a connection with Charlie Ianni, a resident of Lawrenceville. Charlie is a community-minded individual who participates in many charitable activities. Through her daughter’s workplace, she receives new Nike footwear to utilize in her charitable works. When she received her current allotment, she was referred to PEAC, where she learned about our collection efforts for PPPF; Charlie donated 65 pairs of new Nike sneakers, having an estimated resale value of $7,000.

The Mercer Emergency & Community Services is the hunger and homelessness prevention program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, which has provided food to over 3600 people since January 2011; 36% of these have been children. The food pantry at Catholic Charities Emergency & Community Services provides families with more than just nutrition; they also offer nourishment for the spirit.

PEAC proudly presents its 4th annual “Runway to Runway” to benefit the Mercer County Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation’s Dreamlift. This year’s event shall be on Saturday, March 26th from 6:00-9:30pm. The evening includes entertainment, wine tasting, silent auction, food, refreshments, and “Adopt-a-Seat.” Together with the community, PEAC has collectively raised more than $75,000 since 2008 to benefit Dreamlift. Our goal for 2011 is to exceed $100,000.
