PEAC Health & Fitness Collects Food for Catholic Charities
June 14th, 2011
PEAC Health & Fitness is partnering with Catholic Charities to collect food pantry items for local families in need. The Mercer Emergency & Community Services is the hunger and homelessness prevention program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, which has provided food to over 3600 people since January 2011; 36% of these have been children. The food pantry at Catholic Charities Emergency & Community Services provides families with more than just nutrition; they also offer nourishment for the spirit.
“Many people are experiencing unforeseen circumstances in this recessionary economy and more people are coming to Catholic Charities for the first time“, said Barbara Clancey, Community Affairs Manager, Catholic Charities. The food pantry is often a point of entry into a comprehensive array of services, resources and understanding – their mission is to help meet urgent needs and provide the hope and strength to face another day. “Thank you for the continued community support. Donations make it possible to continue helping people and families become self-sufficient,” added Barbara.
PEAC will be accepting non-perishable food items for the Catholic Charities pantry during the month of July.
