PEAC Health & Fitness Collects Food for HomeFront

PEAC Health & Fitness is partnering with HomeFront of Mercer County to collect food pantry items for local families in need. HomeFront provides a holistic array of preventative emergency and long-term support services for families who are in danger of becoming homeless. These services range from temporary shelters, affordable housing for families, tutoring and enrichment programs for children, life-skills and employment readiness training for adults.

“Hundreds of families in Mercer County must decide each month whether to buy food or to pay the rent. We help to keep these families from becoming homeless through our Food Pantry program. HomeFront distributes 700 bags of free groceries to low-income families each month. HomeFront also coordinates the delivery of donated hot meals prepared by area congregations and community groups. These dedicated volunteers also donate and prepare food for HomeFront client events from holiday parties to graduation ceremonies. Last year we distributed more than $3 million worth of donated goods and professional services to our families,” said Irene Hosszu, Executive Assistant, HomeFront.
