Local Musician visits KidsKamp at PEAC Health & Fitness
July 6th, 2011
PEAC Health & Fitness KidsKamp recently hosted David Geltch as a special presenter. Mr. Geltch is an accomplished percussionist and educator in the Manalapan-Englishtown School District. As part of KidsKamp’s first “Special Event Friday” of the summer, Mr. Geltch displayed and performed on the instruments of the concert band family for the campers.
A Washington Crossing, PA native and graduate of Council Rock High School, Mr. Geltch recalls knowing his future was in music, as early as the fourth grade. He marched three years in The Cadets of Bergen County (a world champion drum and bugle corps), performed in Germany with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, and with the 63rd Army Band, in Sea Girt, NJ. David holds a BA in Instrumental Music Education from Temple University, with graduate studies in Music Performance from Rutgers University. As full time Instrumental Teacher with Manalapan-Englishtown School District for twenty years, David’s musical passion is contagious. In addition to teaching, he currently instructs the Drum Line and Percussion Ensemble in Allentown High School and Mr. Geltch recently formed a steel drum band, comprised of Manalapan-Englishtown middle school students, entitled the “Manala Pans.”
