"Runway to Runway 2010"

Sunshine Foundation

PEAC Health & Fitness held its third annual “Runway to Runway” on Saturday, March 27th benefiting the Mercer County Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation.

Members of PEAC staff, and many people from the local community donated and volunteered their time for this wonderful cause.  PEAC’s doors opened at 6pm, to a steady stream of almost 400 community supporters, local dignitaries, media representatives and distinguished guests.  Guests enjoyed food donated by local area restaurants, wines poured by Valley Wines & Spirits of Pennington, and bidding on over 180 donated items to the silent auction.

Master Singers from Ewing High School kicked off the entertainment showcase, followed by seasonal fashions from Eastern Mountain Sports.  Special guests included two beauty queens, Chenoa Greene (Miss New Jersey USA 2010), and Erica Szymanski (Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2010) and the Philadelphia Passion Lingerie Football Team.  Attendees enjoyed selections from various musical artists, ranging from toddlers to seniors and steel drums to trumpets.  Boomer of the Trenton Thunder Baseball team surprised our guest of honor, former Dreamlift participant, Markie Marotta with tickets and prizes.  One lucky bidder won a one-week vacation in Costa Rica, which was donated by a PEAC member, via a live auction.  Generous food donations were provided by Cup of Joe, Deli-Licious, La Villa Restaurant, Metro Grill, Olsson’s Fine Foods, Palermo’s III, Pennington Quality Market, Philly Pretzel Factory of Ewing, Piccolo Trattoria, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, The Runway Restaurant & Bar, and Wegmans.

Cher and Prince impersonators stole the night with their finale performances.  Cher (Steven Andrade) graced the stage fully adorned in his handmade Bob Mackie knockoff costumes, lip syncing effortlessly to Cher’s greatest hits.  Cher stunned the crowd with five different spectacular performances, each one featuring an ornate outfit and signature characteristics.  Prince (Frank Moore) continued the excitement, getting the crowd on its feet and dancing and singing-even jumping off the stage to deliver kisses to lucky recipients.  Andrade and Moore generously donated their performances services to help the Sunshine Foundation.  Michael Briehler, PEAC President noted, “They’re friends of mine, and they did this without asking for a dime.”

Together with ticket sales, silent auction and “Adopt-A-Seat,” PEAC raised more than $26,000 for the Dreamlift!  “Thank you to everyone who helped bring this event to life—we had an amazing evening and made a difference in the lives of so many deserving children,” said Laurel Reid, Chairperson of Runway to Runway at PEAC.  “The biggest question is, how do we top this for next year?” said Cathy DiCostanzo, Sunshine Foundation President.
